There is nothing quite like wandering onto a garden and seeing the elegance of tulips. The appeal of tulips stretches so far that the amount of varieties available is something to admire in itself. From the early days of Spring right through to the middle of Summer, tulips fill your garden with bright, bold colour. And, if you're after something a little subtler, there are varieties for achieving that, too.

Here, at Almondsbury, we have an inspiring range of tulip bulbs ready for brightening up spring beds and borders. Our bulb packs start at £2.99 a piece, and you really get your money's worth with enough bulbs to cover large beds and tubs.

Autumn may now have set in and the list of garden jobs may be small, but by grabbing your bulbs now and setting to work establishing them in next year's flower beds, you can be prepared for some wonderful early colour next year. Daffodils, tulips and other bulbs need a small cold period to activate them, by planting them outside in the autumn you’ll provide them with this, whilst also saving yourself work when the spring begins.

Tulip flowers come in some wonderfully indulgent colours. The tulip ‘Queen of the Night’ rises up with the familiar goblet-shaped blooms that are touched with a gorgeous deep purple. These would really work alongside some of our red or pink-tinged tulips. With these tones combined, you could build a very pretty, slightly formal palette to your garden.

If you’re looking for something a little brighter, the tulip ‘Fosteriana’ would be perfect for this. The array of yellows, reds, oranges and whites make this collection of tulips a good choice for a high impact border, or as an addition to a container on your balcony or terrace.

As well as the more traditional tulip bulbs, we also have the more open-shaped blooms of varieties, such as ‘Finesse’ – which contains blooms with violet and white tones. In addition to this, we also have the wonderful ‘Pastel’ collection which would bring some gentler, bright colour to a bed, border or pot.

With April and May bringing a slow, but progressive return to colour in the garden, introducing some of these wonderful tulip bulbs into beds and borders will provide you with some attractive blooms to fill that quieter period.

Why not head down to Almondsbury Garden Centre and see our impressive range of bulbs? There really is something for everyone.
